Title: The Night Circus
Author: Erin Morgenstern
Publication Date: September 13, 2011
From Goodreads:
The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des Rêves, and it is only open at night.
But behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway—a duel between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors. Unbeknownst to them, this is a game in which only one can be left standing, and the circus is but the stage for a remarkable battle of imagination and will. Despite themselves, however, Celia and Marco tumble headfirst into love—a deep, magical love that makes the lights flicker and the room grow warm whenever they so much as brush hands.
True love or not, the game must play out, and the fates of everyone involved, from the cast of extraordinary circus performers to the patrons, hang in the balance, suspended as precariously as the daring acrobats overhead.

I've been waiting for what seems like forever to read this book. I won a copy at the end of last year but never received it (bummer!) so I've been holding out hope that it will eventually show up and I won't have to buy it. Either way, I hope I am finally able to read it soon!
What is your heart's desire this week? Leave me a link in the comments and I'll be sure to stop by and check it out!
We have this in our public library but I never really gave it a second look. Maybe I'll pick it up on my next visit, it sounds awfully a lot like that magician movie w/ Hugh Jackman and the other one with Jessica Biel.

ReplyDeleteLast year, I also won a book that never came in the mail, and held off buying my own copy or even trying to enter other contests for it, just in case it eventually showed up . . . which it did, this year, over six months after I won it!
So you never know. You might still receive a great surprise in the mail. ;-)
And since you asked, here's my own "heart's desire" for this week: Another Book, Another Wish =)
