Ok, so I have a huge favor to ask of you. While I've been an avid reader my entire life, I used to read strictly true crime and an occasional Stephen King book here and there. Then back in 2009 I picked up a few chick lit and YA books and gave them a chance. Well, I guess now you can say I'm hooked. Since I have been out of the loop for so long, I have missed out on a ton of books. This is where you come in: please help me find great books!
While I love reading a good series, it seems that just about every other book is part of one. Sometimes I just want to sit down and read a book and not have to wait a year for the next one to come out. I like to know what happens NOW! I'm really loving dystopian books right now, and pretty much anything in the YA genre. I would love if you could recommend some stand alone YA books to me. Do you have any favorites? What do you suggest? Help!
I don't know if you'll have heard of any of these, but definitely look into them and see if you like the sound of them; they are some of my all time favourites-
ReplyDeleteThe INvention of Hugo Caberet. (Brian Selznick)
This is Shyness. (Leanne Hall)
Days Like This. (Alison Stewart)
Alaska. (Sue Saliba)
Wonderstruck. (Brian Selznick)
Un Lun Dun by China Mievlle. (Just finished it, amazing!)
And for an amazing laugh the new children's book Ruby Redfort Look into my eyes by Lauren Child.
Hope these give you some inspiration!
