So I've had a crazy busy week. I had errands to run last Thursday, lunch with my mom and sister on Friday during the day and then Christmas shopping to do Friday night. Saturday came with more errands to run and that brings us to Sunday. Oh Sunday...
So as some of you may know, I love to buy books from Goodwill. I always find a ton of cheap books there. My sister took my minions overnight on Friday so I could do some Christmas shopping. Before I picked them up on Saturday, I decided to take a ride up to one of the local Goodwills and see what they had for books. The line was crazy busy so I decided to check out their furniture while I waited for it to slow down. I'm looking for a specific table for a project so I was hoping to find one. I didn't, but I did find something as equally awesome:
I love bookcases and was so excited to see this one. It is a rather ugly greenish color and I was going to paint it, but decided not too because it's kind of growing on me. (Don't mind the pieces of wood holding it up, my carpet is uneven apparently lol.) I love the look of the shelves:
They have a nice, blotchy finish to them. The hubby went and picked it up for me after work on Saturday. Now that brings us to Sunday.
Something you need to know about me is that I am a little obsessive over my books. I have them separated on different bookcases by type, read/not read, won/bought. I have all my paperbacks on one bookcase, all my hardcovers on another, all read books on another and then all the books I've won on two separate bookcases by hardcover/paperback. I need everything to have it's place. So when we brought in the new one Sunday, I had to make a decision. What was I going to put on it?
I had a very hard time trying to figure something out. I didn't wait to mix my categories. I honestly sat here for over an hour thinking. After debating with myself for too long, I finally decided that I would put all of my YA books on the new bookcase. This took hours to do. I had to move one shelving unit out of my library to bring in the new one. Then I had to move two smaller bookcases to put the new one in their spot. Then I had to transfer books and rearrange all the other shelves. I am so glad to finally be finished. What a waste of a Sunday! At least the husband got to watch his football game without my usual harassment :)
So, after a very busy few days, I am finally back online and ready to catch up on blogs. I just made it to Friday's posts of all the blogs I follow. It is going to take me a few days just to get caught up on those, not to mention all the giveaway hops that are going on right now. I'm having a hard time figuring out what to do first. Catch up on blogs or enter the giveaways first? Ack! Seriously, I have issues lol.
Anyway, no review today because I haven't had time to finish Switched by Amanda Hocking. It's pretty decent so far and I'm hoping to get through it and have a review posted on Thursday. Also, don't forget that I have a swag giveaway going on right now. There are only a few entries so your chances are good! You can enter that here and it is open until the 12th.
Question: How do you arrange your books? Do you obsess over them like me or do you just put them wherever?
I love organizing my books, although I'm not quite as serious as you are about it! I don't like the way I have them organized right now, actually, but because of the size of my shelves, I don't have a choice. I put all my fiction books together and all my non-fictions books together, but I did have to put all my mass market paperbacks on their own shelves. So what it looks like right now is: Fiction hardcovers and trade paperbacks, organized by author then title (or, if it's a series, author then the order of the series); mass market paperbacks by author then title; hardcover and trade non-fiction by author then title; and mass market non-fiction by author then title. I can't wait to get some better bookcases. I like the one you got, so I think maybe I'll see what the Goodwill near me has.
ReplyDeleteI have all my mass market paperbacks together too. I highly recommend Goodwill. This bookcase was only $20, which is less expensive then one of the particle board ones from Walmart. It is very heavy and sturdy. You can find some pretty amazing things at Goodwill, so definitely check it out! I hope you find something good :)
