Over the last few months I have been trying to come up with a way to make more space in my office/library. It's a decent sized room but I just have too many things that I want to put in it. On Saturday, I finally figured out a way to make this work. I only had to move around a few bookcases and it would really open up the whole room. So on Sunday I put my dear husband to work moving furniture.
When I sent the husband on his way to move the bookcases, I knew I had to move some books first. That's when I ran into trouble. I knew I had a lot of books, but this was seriously ridiculous. Apparently bookcases hold a lot more than I realized. I had stacks and stacks of books that I had either won, bought or been gifted that I had completely forgotten about. Every time I took out a new stack I saw a book that I had been desperate for at the time and then completely forgot about.
That's when I realized that I need to do something about it. My minions are on school vacation from April 20th until the 29th, so what better time to have a read-a-thon? I won't have to get them up early for school which means I can stay up late. Yes!!! I can take them to the park and read, or just hang out with them at the house and when they have their tv/video game time I can read then too.
So I'm challenging myself to read as many book through that week as possible. I'm not gonna go crazy and lock myself in a room and not come out until I have a set number of books read, but I do want to make somewhat of a dent in my TBR pile. I also have some review books from NetGalley that need reading so I need to add those to the list.
Right now, my stack for the week looks like this:
It might be a little ambitious, but I am hoping to read at least one book a day! Hopefully I will make it through each of these and more :) I'm also pretty sure that the husband will be in Boston for a comic convention on one of these weekends so that means one less person around to harass me into putting the book down.
So what about you? Do you have a nice stack of books that are in need of some TLC? Why not jump on the bandwagon and join the read-a-thon?
The rules:
- Read what you want, when you want and at your own pace.
- Post your daily progress.
- Have fun!

ReplyDeleteIt was AMAZING! I absolutely LOVED it!
I would totally join you, but I just had my srping break last week, so now it's back to school and studying like crazy =/ I dont think I'll have much time to read this quarter :(
But good luck and happy reading!
lol good luck tifff
ReplyDeleteTiffany since I don't have a blog I won't be an Official member but I will join as well and see what I can do. but I won't make much of a dent because I have to work and then sleep. plus with the added pain in my back and the added medication I have to take I will be sleeping more. so I don't know how well I'll do but it's a fantastic idea! thank you for the invite. I wish I could do a blog but I'm to dumb.
ReplyDeleteGood luck! Also great books lined up :) I plan to read Anna Dressed in Blood that period too [as long as the postman delivers it to me in time ;)]
ReplyDeleteI love read-a-thons, but bad timing, 'cause I'm already signed up for other 2 read-a-thons, so I'll have to skip it.
Have fun & happy reading!!!
I meant other 2 read-a-thons that will be at that same period: Dewey's 24-hour Read-a-Thon on 21st-22nd April & the Spring into Horror Read-a-Thon on 23rd-29th April.
