From Goodreads:
A teenage boy wanders into a mystical forest ruled by a gypsy goddess named Amaisia Moon.
The forest changes with every blink or head turn and he discovers an ocean where dreams and nightmares literally come alive.
My Thoughts:
Wow! For such a short story, it certainly was awesome! Blink is the story of Lance, a teenager who decides to once and for all enter the mysterious woods and see what the true story is. After hearing rumors about it's magical powers and people disappearing for years, he just can't help himself. Once inside, nothing is as it seems. He meets Amaisia Moon, the goddess of the forest, who loves nothing more than to play mind games with him. Realizing what a mistake he has made, Lance has to try and solve the mysteries of the forest if he wants to escape with his life and help save others.
I have to say that I was shocked at how much I loved this story. It was incredibly short, so I wasn't expecting so much to be held within those few pages. Instead, I was immediately sucked into this world of magic and mystery and I didn't want it to end. You will find all the ingredients for success in Blink: intrigue, action, witty dialog, and even a little bit of a love story. Not to mention Poast's writing is brilliant. He has an unbelievable way of setting the scene while keeping the action at an even pace. I could fully picture Lance, Amaisia, and all the other characters and creatures in my head as I was reading.
I'm still thinking about Blink days after reading it. Even though it was less than fifteen pages long, it didn't feel like it. There is so much going on in between the covers that you can't help but forget about everything going on around you and immerse yourself into the forest with Lance. When you finally do come out, it's hard to believe that you were only in there for such a short amount of time. But I think that is part of the magic of this story. My hopes are high that another story will follow this one. I would love to see it become a series.
I really can't recommend Blink enough, and thanks to the author, I am able to share this amazing story with you! Three lucky readers will each receive an ebook (pdf) of Blink! Since they are ebooks, this giveaway is open internationally. Good luck!
