On My Wish List (63)
On My Wish List is a fun weekly event hosted by Workaday Reads and runs every Saturday. It's where we list all the books we desperately want but haven't actually bought yet. They can be old, new or forthcoming.
Title: The Sign For Drowning
Author: Rachel Stolzman
Publication Date: June 10, 2008
Synopsis:
Anna has grown up haunted by her younger sister's death. In the life she constructs as a barrier against the emotional wreckage of her family tragedy, Anna settles comfortably into a career as a teacher of deaf children. But a challenge arrives—in the form of a young girl. Adrea's disarming vulnerability and obvious need for love offer Anna the possibility of reconnecting with the world around her—if she has the courage to open her heart.
I think this book has been on my wish list longer than any other. I first learned about it a few years ago when browsing for trades on Swap.com. Nobody ever seemed to have a decent copy and I never came across one on my own. I'm putting this one down as another one of those books that I desperately wanted but then couldn't remember for the life of me when walking into a bookstore. In fact, it has been quite some time since I last thought about it. But I am adding it to the top of my wish list and hopefully I will finally get a copy soon!
What about you? What is your heart's desire this week? Leave me a link in the comments and I'll come check it out!
Lol, my mental wishlist always disappears when I enter a bookstore too. I really want to read Cinder and I can't wait for the paperback to be released in January.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like an interesting book. My sister is deaf and life is never easy. I think I will have to add this to my wishlist also. Thanks for sharing.
