YA Mythology Giveaway Hop!




Welcome to the YA Mythology Giveaway Hop, hosted by For Those About to Read and I Am a Reader, Not a Writer! This hop lasts from October 26th through November 4th.

  1. I can give you lots of recs! I LOVE mythology! I don't know which books you have and haven't read, but I'll just list some books I've read and liked:

    *The Percy Jackson series, Kane Chronicles, and Heroes of Olympus series by Rick Riordan
    *Mythos Academy series by Jennifer Estep
    *Pantheons by E.J. Dabel
    *Myth Weaver by David J. Normoyle
    *Olympian series by George O'Connor (these are graphic novels)
    *Pandora's Key by Nancy Richardson Fischer
    *Oppression by Jessica Therrien

  3. I'm not sure what you've already read, but Percy Jackson is great, there's also Helen of Troy by Margaret George and Troy by Adele Geras.
    Of course, there's also the Iliad and the Odyssey, as well as the Aeneid ;) I've only read the Iliad and I loved it.

  11. Kevin Hearne's Iron Druid series is excellent. Start with Hounded, and if you like audio, the narrator (Luke Daniels) is fabulous.

  13. The Lords of the Underworld series by Gena Showalter has Greek Gods in it, so is for the Dark Hunters series by Sherrilyn Kenyon.
    Then, there's Gena Showalter's Atlantins series.
    Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark series has valkyries (yay!)

  41. Don't know if it counts as YA, but the mythological heroes are teenagers...SONG OF ACHILLES by Madeline Miller is bittersweet and beautiful.

  42. You should check out the Avatars series by Tui Sutherland it has a mix of mythology Sumerian, Greek, Norse, Maori Pantheons!!

  64. You should read the Thief series by Megan Whalen Turner. It's not based on a myth, but has a pretty spectacular Parthenon.

  79. I love anything by Rick Riordan. I would not recommend Mortal Coils by Eric ____ (can't remember his last name) - it was just way too complex and slow, and the characters were not very engaging - it is not a good thing when you are hoping the main protagonist would just die from her own stupidity.

    I recently finished Darkness Becomes Her, which was a really interesting take on Medusa.

  82. I haven't read many, but Wake by Amanda Hocking was good. Also, I've heard great things about Everneath by Brodi Ashton, The Mythos Academy series by Jennifer Estep, and Darkness Becomes Her & A Beautiful Evil by Kelly Keaton.

  84. I have not read much from this genre and most of the books I know are still on my TBR list but Sword of the Rightful King by, Jane Yolen is pretty good.

      This book is also really good. It is part of a Science Fiction Fantasy series but this book contains Irish myths and legends. I have not finished the series but this book was the best of the 6 I have read.
