Can you help a girl out?

I have to admit something: when it comes to computers, I have no clue what I am doing. Actually, to be more specific, I have absolutely no idea how to use html. I've only been blogging for a few months and I have just now gotten the hang of inserting images. I know, it's pathetic. Is there anyone out there that can help me out? What I really, really want to know how to do is add text boxes. You know, put a pretty border around an image or make a pretty little box that all my text sits in with a different colored background. See, I don't even know what they are called!

A few nights ago I decided enough was enough. I love blogging and I really want my blog to be all that it could be. Right now I have a pretty basic post structure going on and I would love to add more to it. So off on a Google search I went. I thought I found what I was looking for but unfortunately I couldn't figure it out.

This pretty much sums up how I looked and felt afterwards:

So here is where you come in. I am on my knees, throwing myself at your mercy. Does anyone out there know how to do these things? Can you help a girl out and point me in the direction of a tutorial of some kind? I would be forever grateful.

  1. Lol - LOVE the coyote!!! Hilarious.

    Photobucket.

Any one of those picture-makin' places- like picasa or photobucket or - I think there's lots of different ones.

They got tons of options to do all kinds of things with pix from everywhere, including borders and text and way more than I can figure out how to use. Photobucket slows my computer down, it's kinda big, so I work fast when I get on and give up quickly... hence no banner, yet. Actually... after looking at my artwork, you probably don't want any advice from ME!! Lol.

    1. LOL I am actually quite fond of your artwork. I, on the other hand, lack any and all artistic ability and rely on my husband for all things photoshop. I find what I want and have him put it together for me. If I need anything drawn (like my IMM image), he does that too. He is quite handy, but unfortunately html is not one of his abilities :(

  6. In the 1st post the tags didnt show...let me try again...

Oh I feel your pain. I'm not all that great with computers either. I think I might be able to help though...I think.

If the border that you are talking about looks like this: http://lili-lost-in-a-book.blogspot.com/2012/03/cursed-wickedly-fun-stories-available.html

    or like this: http://lili-lost-in-a-book.blogspot.com/2012/03/incarnate-newsoul-1-jodi-meadows.html

then here is what you have to do (I actually had to ask a friend about this too, lol):

You put this around the text or picture (I actually havent done the border around the picture but I think its possible):
< blockquote >YOUR TEXT HERE< / blockquote > but with no spaces between the <>. This is to make sure the writing isn't really close to the edge.

Then, around all of that you put this: < div style="border: 2px solid red;" >Your Text< / div > (here, take out the spaces After the <, after red;" and there should be no spaces in the second set of <>)

You can change the size of it by changing the 2px to another number, and I have only figured out how to make it into a solid line or dashed (if you want a dashed line write "dashed" in place of "solid"), and you can also change the color.

So here is what mine look like for the above links:
    Cursed post: < div style="border: 5px dashed purple;" >< blockquote >YOUR TEXT HERE< / blockquote >< / div >

    Incarnate post: < div style="border: 5px solid purple;" >< blockquote >YOUR TEXT HERE< / blockquote >< / div >

    ~remember, take out the spaces

I dont know if this is what you were looking for, but hope that helps. Just play around with the colors and numbers and see what you come up with.
